Urban Bee Keeper

"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man." - Albert Einstein
Occasionally I come across something that I find very inspiring and since I felt that this was in line with our Carbon Neutral Policy that we have here at the go game so I thought I would share it.
It looks like todays honey bees are in some sort of trouble. Many hives are suffering from Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). The USDA is reporting that honey bee colony losses nationwide were 29% from September 2008 to April 2009. While scientists are not sure if it's a single cause or a combination of many causes, it is generally agreed on that the destruction of natural bee habitats is not helping.
If bees pollinate a third of the US food supply then what happens when their population dwindles? I don't know if human designed models will fully explain the extent of the damage it could do but I don’t want to figure out first hand.
Knowing that hives naturally split twice a year designer Adam Weaver created the Bikube for these new colonies to populate to regain their numbers. Designed to be mounted on a wall the Bikube has sloped sides so that debris easily slide off. There is also a clear see through section so that you can see your colony at work.
If my roommates aren't too scared of housing bees want to put one of these up at my house.
