The Go Game Street Food Adventure Official Rulios
Here is the long version of the rules for The Go Game Street Food
Adventure. Take a skim, poke around and refer back to these if you need
to during play!
What?
The Go Game Street Food Adventure is an interactive scavenger hunt
involving SF-based restaurants and street food vendors, as well as good,
old-fashioned riddles that you will complete online.
When?
Monday, August 3rd to Saturday, August 22nd
Where?
The game will take place in a variety of places, including but not
limited to your home, restaurants, street food trucks, bars, hot dog
stands, banana stands and the Internet.
How?
On the first day of play, you will all be emailed a link to a secret
website, which will be used to access the game. The entire game is
played through this website, and does require that at least one person
on your team has a computer with Internet access, a web-enabled cell
phone and a digital camera. When you log in to the website with your
team name, your randomly generated captain will be issued a
confidential, secure six-digit code that you must remember in order to
re-log in. WRITE THAT CODE DOWN!
When you are ready to submit an answer, only one person on your team
will be able to do so.
Each Monday (August 3rd, August 10th and August 17th) a new set of clues
will be 'unlocked' on-line. Your team should get together to complete
the 'at-home' challenges (online, over the phone, IM, e-mail, etc) which
you can do from anywhere, and at any time. Do be warned that they are
tricky! Working as a unit will be of great help in these missions! These
riddles will 'unlock' different location-based missions that require
you guys to get off your butts and venture forth into the real world of
foodie fun. Be sure to bring your camera on these missions!
Several of the missions require your team to upload photos or videos to
the public gallery or 'Main Site' (www.thegogame.com/streetfood) to
either verify completion or to showcase your all around creative genius.
This main site is where everyone can check out and evaluate one
another's photos/videos with a snazzy voting system. The better your
photos and video, the more points you will get. You can access the Main
Site via a link at the end of every mission, or by simply going to the
URL above (on your phone or computer).
As with the game, to access the Main Site, you simply log in with your
six-digit code, and upload photos and/or videos. You can upload the
photos/videos at any point after you've completed a mission. WHEN YOU
ARE IN THE FIELD, TAKE THE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS THAT YOU NEED AND SKIP
AHEAD BY TYPING 'SKIP' IN BOTH FIELDS. YOU CAN GO BACK AND ENTER THE
INFO FROM HOME. Then, you should explore the site with your team and
actually vote on (or grade, much like a fine meat) ALL of the other
teams photos and videos based on how well you think they did. There will
also be a forum for sharing ALL of the awesome pictures you've taken,
links to the leading teams, the highest scoring creative missions and a
blog for smack talking - we mean, interteam banter.
In addition to the missions you are fed each week, there will always be
some 'doggie bag' missions available at the bottom of the main page -
these are photo and video challenges that can be completed any time, any
where. So take a look through them, read up on the different types and
choose which ones (maybe all!) that your team would like to complete for
a chance at some killer bonus points that could make or break the game!
And if you do finish all of them, keep checking back because more will
appear as the game progresses.
Who?
The Go Game - your numero uno resource for corporate teambuilding and general awesomeness and La Cocina - an incubator kitchen for minority women in San Francisco.
FAQ
Q: What if my team (or part of it) is going away during the on-site missions?
A: That is totally OK! Play as much or as little, as you want to! You
can also stop at any time and come back later - you do NOT have to
finish everything on Monday, in fact, it's impossible. The Go Game is
much like a fine wine - you should drink it in slowly, deliberately and
enjoy every sip. All location-based missions were designed to be run any
weekend (with the exception of missions AT The SF Streetfood Festival),
so you can catch up later. And strategy is an important part of the
game - feel free to split your team up and delegate if that's what works
best for you (although we really love staying together with our team
the whole time. But then again, we ARE devastatingly attractive).
Q: When will the winners be announced? And what are the prizes?
A: We will announce the winners AT the SF Streetfood Festival on
Saturday, August 22nd. There will be missions going on during the day
that involve many of the vendors, and you should be present (or a
representative should be present) if you want to win! You should be
present anyway if you want to munch on some of the finest grindage SF
has to offer. And the prizes will be amazing. Like incredible. AND
relative. Just don't expect a car or iPod or anything that's material or
traditionally valuable. No one likes materialistic people anyway.
Q: What if a mission is too hard and we cannot figure it out?
A: No worries. Most missions have hints at the bottom and you can take
them. You will loose a few points for each hint you take, but it's
better than getting zero points. If you STILL cannot figure out a clue,
enter an incorrect answer three time to move ahead in the game. We will
see to it that you receive the important information that you missed,
but you will not receive any points for that specific question.
Q: Are all the restaurants and vendors in San Francisco 'in on it?'
A: Many SF food stops are in on the game, and looking forward to seeing
you out there. However, not every single person is involved, so please
remember to respect the places you go and the people you meet. And NONE
of our peeps in the zones are wearing navy blue uniforms that say, 'San
Francisco's Finest.' Those are real cops. They take you to real jail. Be
good.
Also, the price of this game (free) does NOT include food! Hehhehe. So
you might find yourself shelling out a few bucks for some mighty fine
grub. That's good. We believe in and love each and every business that
is featured in this hunt. So treat them well. Especially if you're
taking their pictures, and always remember to ask first.
Q: Is The Go Game appropriate for children?
A: Each individual Go Game is tailored for a specific event and
audience. We would classify this particular game as PG-13. In all
honesty, the clues in this event are very challenging and geared to
stump Stanford grads and gaming nerds (our two favorite kinds of people
behind foodies), so little Benny and Susie might not share your delight
in solving the enigma that is the square footage of 100 hot dogs wrapped
in bacon, sitting out under a full moon. Also, sometimes we send you
into bars, and you already know the rules about that!
Q: Do we need team costumes?
A: YES! Well, not officially, but we really like people in costumes.
Plus, we just might have some undercover agents peppered around the
gamezone, and if they can spot you because of your awesome duds they can
award you the bonus points that you truly deserve.
Q: Who do I contact with questions/comments/heavenly praise?
A: Me! Well, my name is Melanie and I can be reached at
melanie@thegogame.com. I will do my best to help you in a timely and
efficient manner, but do be aware that there are over 300 of you playing
out there and I do have a day job!
You are also welcome to post your general questions to this blog for all
to see and we will post the answers as quickly as we can.
