Virgance Equinox Party at 111 Minna - April 7, 2009

The Go Game was proud to be the purveyor of official fun business at the top-notch event that the beautiful, green people over at Virgance put together at 111 Minna on April 7th, 2009. The official reason for the party was to announce Virgance recent run of acquisitions in the Activism 2.0 world.  These include their partnerships with GoMedia and 1BOG among others.  The event was jammed packed and while the exact numbers aren’t in, our guess is close to 500 people. Wowsa!  And they all paid $20 to support the cause.  This activism thing is blowing up big time.

Our role was to entice people to play The Go Game on their web enabled cell phone to guide them from station to station, interacting with our fine actors and competing for a chance to win $150 worth of gift cards from Donor Choose (donorchoose.org) and a huge gold trophy. The turn out for the game was well over 100 players competing to give Virgance’s CEO, Steve Newcomb a bear hug and take a crazy photo with Brent over at the Carrot Mob station. There’s even one with first time Weggie photo

Our game featured a twitter like feature that posted people’s open ended statements, observations and answers onto the big screen for all to see and admire.  Here are a few gems from the game feed.

Q: Virgance projects have crazy names. What should we call our next campaign?
A: Apocalypse banana pants

aschulkin @18:09

Q: Who in this party is so delicious you can't take your eyes of them?
A: brent's mom {his aunt's not bad either

newsom @17:55

Q: Who would you like to see as a guest writer for GO Media?
A: gandhi

The game came down to two fine teams that both completed every mission in the game over the course of 4 hours.  Mr Hyde ultimately beat out aschulkin for the top prize which is probably a good thing since ashculkin was a team consisting of Brent’s relatives.  While we certainly like to keep things all in the family, it’s nice to spread the generosity wealth around! Overall it was a fantastic night for all involved.  Hats off to the Virgance for all the energy and love they put into making their vision a reality.  And bigger props to Brent for having such a big brain. Woot!
